Reports Report 534j (Event 534-2012)

Observer
Name Sheila
Experience Level 1/5
Remarks It was the coolest thing I've ever seen in the night sky even though it only lasted a few seconds. It seemed so close because of the size and the clarity and then it was just gone as fast as it showed up.

Persistent train
Observation No
Duration -1s
Length -1°
Remarks It was bright orange with blueish traces at the head and appeared like a match being struck in the sky and heading almost straight downward. Very brief initial flash and then train seen for only a few seconds before it disappeared but before it disappeared I could definitely see what appeared to be a dark rock-like shape at the head, again like a match. I've never seen anything like it, except in the movies. Very cool!! It seemed close due to the size and clarity but I'm no expert.
Terminal flash
Observation Unknown
Remarks When it appeared, it came out of nowhere like someone struck a match in the sky, lasted a few seconds, long enough for me to watch it trail in a downward position and see what appeared to be a dark rock-like shape at the end/head of it and then it just disappeared, like a match that just burnt out.
Fragmentation
