My car's heading was about 20 degrees on the compass and I saw the bright light come from the top of my windshield where the rearview connects to the windshield and then down diagonally to the left about 1/8 to 1/4 of the height of the windshield. It was not an aircraft nor was it stray light hitting the inside of the windshiled. I travel this route a LOT in this type of darkness that we had and have never seen anything like this in that area.

The light traveled for a few inches diagonally down my windshield then fragmented behind the leading mass and then the whole thing went out.
