I was really close to the huge round water reservoir, basically just turned my back to it. I looked to the right and saw it already burning and descending. It might have been burning for longer before I turned.

the meteor was leaving burning parts behind, cooled down and extinguished before going low but it was obvious it was pretty close to the ground and to me in terms of distance.
