Remarks | We live on a hill near the flight path of the airport (SNA). I came outside onto the patio and noticed a bright light that I assumed at first would be a plane on approach to the airport, but it was in an unusual spot. So I looked up (almost straight up) and noticed it was moving almost impossibly fast across the sky, on a path the airplanes never use. I believed it to be a shooting star, but it seemed to be at a lower altitude than other shooting stars I have seen (maybe it was just bigger?). Because of the speed and the perceived lower altitude, I waited several seconds for a sonic boom, but never heard one. The time I input is approximate (within just a few minutes), based upon when I tweeted about it once I came into the house. It was an impressive display. |
