Remarks I am a senior forecaster with the National Weather Service in Portland, OR. It was quite the busy night last night with all the interest. I was at home, before work, when this happened at roughly 19:10 PST. I heard a low, consistent rumble for 1-2 seconds which caught my attention as a possible earthquake. My dog perked up and started barking; something very uncharacteristic of her. My partner did not hear it, so I figured my dog and I were hearing things and that was that. Then I got into work and heard Twitter was lighting up with similar accounts of what happened. Twitter activity centered on south portions of the Seattle metro, Olympia, Grays Harbor on the coast, and oddly the SW Portland metro. Image is actually from radar (Langley Hill - KRTX) along WA coast, showing something I consider likely to be non-meteorological. Time of radar image is 19:07 PST.

Remarks Low, consistent rumble for a second or two. I did not actually see the flash; just trying to use coordinates to describe where I think it came from. Dog was very disturbed, and she doesn’t usually bark. Almost like a very weak earthquake.
