Remarks I was driving home, heading east. The ball seemed to enter my peripheral vision from the right hand side and moved forward...so in the southern sky, travelling west to east. At first I thought somebody had set off a firecracker in the backyard of the house I just passed - but I didn't see any firecracker leftovers as I looked into the sky. Then I thought it was somebody else driving and turning with their high beams on (since the light seemed to carry over the trees along the horizon) - but there were no other cars on the road in a close enough vicinity to make the sky light up so bright. Then I thought I didn't see anything at all because it happened so quickly. It was not until after I read the fireball story in one of our local news websites that I put two and two together. For a brief moment, 1 to 2 seconds, a large section of the clear and dark sky lit up as though we were in the middle of a summer lightning storm. The light I saw was light green, dark green, white and some purple haze. /TS
