My daughter who lives near Grunthal in SE Manitoba called me this a.m. to tell me about her experience last night which was around the same time as my sighting. She saw two giant blue beams of light at the corner of her house. They were so bright that she thought that the police were in her yard for some kind of emergency. This lasted for at least 5 seconds. Then this a.m. her dogs started barking for no apparent reason. She told me that she heard what seemed like the sound that heating water makes as it nears the boiling point: "the sound of steam getting louder and louder" and then suddenly the sound was gone. So far there is no explanation for what she heard this a.m. (She heats with electricity so there is no noisy furnace in her house.) However, she does realize that the lights that she saw last night were probably related to the fireball.

Remarks
I thought that it was a flash of lightning in the sky-----which is quite silly considering that here in Manitoba it was probably close to -30 C around that time.
