Reports Report 1364g (Event 1364-2011)

Observer
Name Dan C
Experience Level 2/5
Remarks This thing came up on me while I was doing highway speed and caught my attention as my peripheral vision saw it out of my driver\'s window. When I turned my head to look at it, based on the speed and low height I expected it to hit several miles down, but then in a couple of seconds it dramatically slowed and turned from a red fireball with trailing smoke into a sparkler ball with no smoke then into nothing. That thing disintegrated in my view, and hears the spectacular thing as far as my experience goes...I would estimate the road is about 50 feet above the river and the object was maybe 30 feet above that and off to my left maybe 1000 feet; i.e maybe a 100 feet off the near shore of the river. It was close! I even thought, \"hey, this might not be the only piece or the smallest piece and I might get hit with something\". But luckily that one object was all I observed. One last thing, earlier in this form I was asked to rate my observation experience, I indicated one level above none, but all that includes is looking at the sky occasionally for a few seconds to see the big dipper and looking thru cheap Sears telescope when I was a kid, so my \"experience\" in watching the sky is very close to zero.
