It appeared to pass below the horizon and impact the side of the hill just north of the highway. What struck me was that it passed below the horizon and stopped somewhere halfway down the hill. I have seen dozens of "shooting stars" in my time flying at night with the Air Force and this was exactly the same except that it passed below the top of the hill and abruptly went out. On the map you'll see some warehouses north of the hwy and it appeared to land somewhere behind them and maybe halfway up the hill or lower. We just happened to be exiting the highway and it was perfectly in our field of view. Feel free to email if you have any questions. Cheers!
