Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks There were at least 2 bright flashes accompanied by what appeared to be a loss of mass. Portions of the main mass separated from the main body at high altitude, and these fragments remained visible as white trailing objects for 1-2 seconds, behind the main body. The main body grew increasingly bright and vivid green as it descended lower into the atmosphere, and disappeared from my field of view about 10 degrees above the horizon due to structures across the street. One other adult witnessed the object. It is possible that some debris impacted the ground approximately 10-15 miles S of my location. I expected a sonic boom, however there was none so the object was probably >15 miles away when it slowed to subsonic. This was a really large meteor - biggest I have ever seen. I believe there will be impact fragments found in San Diego county.
Observation Yes
Remarks There were two fragments that broke off the main body during descent
