Remarks |
attached is an HD video clip taken from a much longer video clip. it is unfortunate that the time-stamp on the video shows the battery had died on the camera and was reset to factory date stamp. that date stamp is incorrect - but the AUDIO narration clearly states it was 2017Aug15, approx 3:47PM. we did NOT notice the object on the day of the flight as we were paying attention to the flight characteristics of the drone aircraft we were testing. i cropped the original (long) video, but included the beginning so you would have the audio date stamp... and see the relative size of the 2m drone that is the focus of the video. you can easily keep and eye on the aircraft during the entire flight.
the observed object enters video clip at 1:10 sec into play, at upper right corner. my drone is in the midfield. object moves down to left over 12 seconds. the meteor-like object crossed the entire sky FOV in about 13 seconds. this flight testing field is 5 miles south of a regional airport. we observe jet traffic routinely and nothing ever moved as fast at this, and, without sound. also, nothing ever crossed the entire sky this quickly. the road in the video runs exactly E-W. we were operating on the north side of that road, toward the west... there are landmarks in the video that are familiar to us, and can help pinpoint the exact position better than NNW if you need. i am a career research engineer working for the US DOE. i can provide you the longer (800MB) video if helpful.
