Reports Report 1093f (Event 1093-2011)

Observer
Name Cecilia
Experience Level 2/5
Remarks This is definitely the brightest fireball I've seen. I was really surprised to see it so clearly in an area with relatively high light pollution. The colors in the fireball and tail were brilliant, and quite beautiful. I'm a flight instructor and pilot and have seen quite a few 'shooting stars' and fireballs while flying at night, usually flying in the low to mid altitudes (5000 to 25k feet), but I have never seen one like this. This one was brighter, more colorful, and had the longest and most distinct tail of any I have seen. I was driving my car and talking on my cell phone when I spotted it so the time, direction I was facing and and duration may be slightly off. I didn't spot the fireball until it was at about a 1 o'clock position in front of me, and my eyes followed it until it appeared to burn up at approximately a 9 o'clock position.
