There is a mountain range right under where I saw this. Also not too far from Dugway proving grounds and a few miles from Hill Air Force Base. Not sure if it could be space debris or something launched from ground or even a teen with a flare gun. (I would think flares would last longer. I leave identifying to the experts)

Remarks
It was early morning and dark so I only saw a faint glow. Could have just been after image.
Terminal flash
Observation
Yes
Remarks
The ball kind of flickered. As I would expect from something burning up quickly. It got brighter for a fraction of a second, then dimmed out. But it did not disappear immediately after getting brighter. Of course this whole thing lasted maybe 2 seconds.
Fragmentation
Observation
Yes
Remarks
Appeared that it was breaking apart. Small pieces falling off in the trail.
