Reports Report 2925aiu (Event 2925-2017)

Observer
Name Tom V
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I was driving and slowing to stop at a stop sign on Crown Place in Rockaway when I observed the meteorite at the upper left of my windshield. It was a bright glowing round ball with a slight tail. It appeared above the tree line and rapidly falling in an arc to the ground beyond the house in front of me. I immediately stopped the car, opening the windows and sunroof, and turned off the engine and radio. The meteorite continued to the ground. It was over very quickly. Probably a total of 5 seconds. I didn't hear anything. I waited for a few seconds but I didn't hear or see anything else. I believe the meteorite came down to the ground within a couple of blocks west of where I was at the time. I drove around the neighborhood for a few minutes afterwards but I didn't see any other evidence of the meteorite. There were a few other people in the area that apparently saw the meteorite as well.
