Remarks | The flash was pretty significant. That\'s what caught my attention initially. At first I thought it might be leftover fireworks from the 4th. It was a clear weeknight on Mille Lacs, so when I looked straight at it, there was no mistaking what it was. Once in a lifetime is right !!! I also Googled to find meteor hits. I know this one landed close. I was really glad to find your website too. |

Observation | No |
Remarks | I expected sound, and I waited quietly. My husband and I were at our lake home where the night is pretty quiet. I really anticipated hearing something. There was no sound, no vibration, no wind change. |
Persistent train | |
---|---|
Observation | Yes |
Duration | 3.5s |
Length | -1° |
Remarks | The train was part of the ball. The train glowed with, and was attached to, the greenish ball, and seemed to slightly lengthen the further down the greenish ball came. The glow of the train was red at the end or tip, and orange, and the closer to the greenish ball it was the lighter orange, or yellower, it became. |
Terminal flash | |
---|---|
Observation | No |
Remarks | I did not see fragmentation, but my husband said he did. Both of our vantage points were slightly different. Trees were blocking our view, and the pattern of trees changed across our view. I had fewer trees at first, and he had fewer trees toward the middle and toward the end, and I again had fewer trees at the very end of the view. |
