Remarks I also saw another about 15 minutes before this, about 90 degrees? that was a white flash and ball that lit the sky. But, the beginning view was blocked from a tree. This is why I went outside on my deck and was watching and caught this one reported that was the biggest, brightest, longest trail I've ever seen. I then looked up online today since thought was close to Perseids and see is Aug 12th. I've watched Perseids in the past from Campo, CA. What was so striking about this report was how close it looked and how long the trail was (I thgt about five to six airline jets long when you see commerical planes close.) The sky was also flashing this early morning because of lightning strikes from summer storms, I believe, where I couldn't see the strike, but sky was lighting up like flash bulb pictures being taken. Before this sighting I was looking at the moon, so was after moon was below horizon, was up late, so I'm not sure if time, was 1:50 a.m. to 2:00 or so, as I didn't look at the clock, but think was about 1:50 a.m. It was great! I usually wouldn't go out on deck, but nice that I was sitting outside. This sighting was so bright that it stunned me, so about one second delay with me turning in that direction. It was spectacular how long the trail/train lasted, unreal. It was clear no clouds where it displayed, but about half the night sky was cloudy with summer storm activity, think to the east of my location was more stormy. I waited about another ten minutes, but nothing, and then thought probably will never top this one and was lucky to see!

Remarks A huge flash lit up the sky. I turned fast to it and saw a huge bright ball with large train. The ball extingished but the train was long and thick and lasted a few more seconds, glowing with red interior. The largest I've ever seen! It was fairly straight across the sky but seemed close. I don't think I saw fragmentation but the train was left visible, very thick, glowing with multi-color red in center and bright yellow-white exterior. I was sitting on my deck steps and had a clear view when turned my head left.
