Remarks This particular event that I'm reporting here was definitely the second biggest fireball I've seen in my life (2) and I just happened to be sitting (camping) at a picnic table and was able to watch the entire event from beginning to end, though some tree branches/leaves were periodically in the way. This question has nothing to do with this sighting... but when I was a child I saw an incredible event where the fireball was as big as if you held a basketball in front of you at arms length, at night, it lasted about 8 seconds, and was a huge fireball with orange, yellow, red, then blue flames that about 4-5 fists across (trail) in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania in the mid to late 1960's. I don't know the exact date, but I think it was in 1968. I can't report this fireball, as your records don't go back that far, but I've been researching it for years, and my father (who was head of the Mathematics Dept. at Bloomsburg State College (now deceased)) called around the next day (I was sleeping over at a friends house in their backyard when I just happened to be sitting staring at the sky. The fireball was so bright (very close to sun intensity) that it lit up the entire area as far as you could see as if daytime. I happened also to be sitting on a hill, so I could see across town to the Susquehanna river hills and beyond. So within seconds it went from dark to day light and back again as the trail vanished. no sound. Is there somewhere I can report this, or find any info on it? I was about 10 years old at the time, and have tried to find information about it ever since with very little luck. Thank you!
