Remarks | Based of video of the event witnessed in the Florida Keys, this meteor was obviously closer to Tampa. When I first witnessed the event south of my position it was burning white around the Tampa International airport (Southwest of my position) until it turned green from fragmentation directly South of me. It maintained this color until my observation was blocked by the treeline east of my position. It had a east north east (ESE) trajectory. If I could guess, I would place its postion south of me between 50 and 100 miles at the start of my observation and between 20 and 50 miles at the end of my observation. I never saw it completely burn up because the treeline east of me blocked out my line of sight. |
