Remarks | My wife and I were sitting on our deck facing west, and could see the meteor and fireball outlined by tree trunks in the woods to the rear of our property. This allowed us to go back outside with a compass and estimate the direction from our property as 10 degrees south of west, +/- 5 degrees. We are not as sure of the exact time, though it was probably about 9:40 p.m. EDT. We believe that the path of the meteor was about from about 30 degrees counterclockwise from vertical, and that the meteor traversed about 5 degrees as it passed downwards towards the horizon. The color of the meteor was initially bright yellowish white, with a greenish terminal flash. |
