Reports Report 454gy (Event 454-2017)

Observer
Name Ian M
Experience Level 2/5
Remarks Certainly glad to have been driving right when this hit! Because I was in a car, I didn't notice it until it was more or less straight overhead because at that point the light was so bright the sky above me became light. My impression, which I know is probably deceptive, is that it was RIGHT above me and continued just slightly east of due north more or less directly center in front of me as I faced due north.

Remarks -
Delayed Sound
Observation Yes
Remarks My first reaction was that a plane was landing right in my town. Perhaps I'm only putting plane like sounds in my memory because of that impression. But the bang I can be more sure of because I distinctly thought "Oh it's a supersonic plane too!" for a split second before realizing what I was really seeing. So faint booms like distant gunfire, obviously not as loud as an actual supersonic jet overhead would be.
Persistent train
Observation Yes
Duration 10s
Length 99.99°
Remarks It seemed the whole length of the sky went it happened, the trail still illuminated by the green light. When the light faded I couldn't see a trail any longer.
Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks It got distinctly brighter in a flash towards the end of where I could see it
Fragmentation
