Reports Report 208ik (Event 208-2011)

Observer
Name Bob B
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks Direction of my vehicle - E-SE From Point A to Point B at the points shown on the map indicating my exact position at the time of sighting on SR Rte 28 which was approximately 12:45 p.m. - 14 Feb. 2011 in clear daylight skies. Bolide definitely in full view for 3-5 seconds traveling from the SW to the NE. (Black Line) My estimated view distance without considering size of the Bolide, initially was 8-12 miles which places it east of the Hudson River towards Rhinecliff-Red Hook. Upon further thought, the size of the bolide was probably substantially larger, considering the image I had of the burning of the head of the bolide which showed spalling off of easily visible details of burning debris which could place it at a few hundred miles distant. This time and direction of the bolide is in distinct contradiction to the data shown in website: http://www.mikesastrophotos.com/comets/daytime-fireball-makes-waves-in-philly-2011-02-14/ which leads me to believe this is a different sighting all together. The red line in (fig.1) is the direction of the bolide from the website info. The black line in my drawing is my viewed sighting showing direction of the bolide.
