Remarks | It was dark and a cement crew was finishing up a slab on our property. There were lights aimed at the slab so they could finish smoothing it. So I should've been slightly blinded by them, and I STILL saw the fireball brighter out of the corner of my eye. It backlit a tree, which caught my attention, and then I followed it the rest of the way, still easy to follow. It was as bright as an iridium flare that was -8 I saw the other night, even though already fading. Even with the lights in my face. But of course with a lot of sparks. And was medium fast. Not super streaky like some meteors. There might have been smoke trail, But I could not have been able to see it. And might have had sound.. but I could not hear over the motors working next to me. Was quite impressive! |

Terminal flash | |
---|---|
Observation | Yes |
Remarks | Yes and no. Saw a HUGE flash of light sideways of where I was looking, my attention was drawn to it, and that's when I saw it directly. It was changing in brightness as it was breaking up. But the initial explosion of light lit of a big section of sky. What I saw was an easy -10 to -12 as it was breaking up, getting bright and then dim. And the sparks were very easy to see. |
Fragmentation | |
---|---|
Observation | Yes |
Remarks | It would get bright, then fragment, then huge amount of big sparks. then lose brightness, then get bright again, then more sparks behind it. Until it just popped out. It was at a strong angle, headed north, pretty much sideways of me. The angle and brightness makes me think it was too far away. |
