East
Saw very bright meteor tonight around 9:30pm EDT (within 15 min, I apologize for the guess work), from about 50 degrees elevation nearly due East, overhead with a visible trail over 60 degrees long traveling from just North of East to just South of West (within 15 degrees). Orange to yellow/white - not much green. Could see bits break off the sides. Not quite a fireball. Close. Much brighter than anything I saw during the August Perseids. No sound.
