Remarks Someone from the hotel within 30 min after I saw the object had a friend from the Big Island (south of Maui) who had taken a picture of the object close to the time I saw the object over Maui and sent it to her cell phone. It looked very similar to object I saw. I suspect this was seen my a number of people on the Big Island and Maui.

Remarks Witnessed the object initially due south from a 9th floor balcony at Marriott Maui Ocean Club. Object was bright white with a glowing train. My first impression was someone had shot off a firework from a boat in the area of Lahaina harbor. I soon realized that it wasn't a firework as it was streaking in a northward direction where I lost sight of it as it passed a little west of the building at an approximate 70 degree angle above the horizon. The object was quite bright and was leaving a fairly long trail. My immediate impression this was an object descending and breaking up in our atmosphere.
