Remarks | Many shooting stars tonight. Saw two fireballs traveling in opposite directions, but this was the first and largest was around 2 am, and another one followed about 20 min later, going in the opposite direction, also large, also white and with a tail. Topa-Topa Mountains area of Oak View, bordering Ojai, CA. The first one looked like it could take out Santa Barbara if it were big enough...and it looked like it could land low. They were both spectacular fireballs. Four of us saw the first, and two of us saw the 2nd. Excellent stargazing. Big meteors/fireballs with tails were a bit daunting as had they hit....could have been like that Russian meteorite that landed. |
