I saw something related (maybe) around 7:30 in the evening tonight. It was a bright light going west across the nearly dark evening sky in the north and then it slowly arced toward the earth. It was behind some trees at that point. There was no sound. The light was larger than an airplane light would be.

Remarks
I saw it at the moment it flashed. It was there and then it was gone. It was right around the northern star in the cross of the Southern Cross. I had been looking at the stars. It seemed to be right above my head, so I ran inside.
