Remarks I was traveling west on US Hwy 98, having left Panama City Beach. There was no traffic, so I was gazing towards the Gulf. I saw a green meteor that was bigger than normal, to the northwest, heading what looked like straight into the gulf of Mexico. Unlike any other meteor I had seen, this one did not fizzle out, but got brighter and bigger, ending in a burst of bright green and yellow, with tinges of pink. The coolest meteors I have ever seen (I try to watch the showers when I can) and the first fireball I have ever seen. The tail lasted a few seconds, so I got to enjoy this one longer that I usually do too.
Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks The tree line just covers the horizon, but I was on pretty flat land that slopes to the see. The meteor had a heading that seemed almost straight down from the sky, going slightly to my left. There was a brighter flash as it reached tree line. Any fragmentation would have been blocked from my view.
Fragmentation
Observation Unknown
