Reports Report 2568k (Event 2568-2016)

Observer
Name Hicks B
Experience Level 2/5
Remarks At the time, I was not thinking about reporting, so did not make any notes or detailed observations. All my facts are approximate. I was in a sleeping bag, very clear windy night. I was lying facing East, and estimate it was a little north of where the moon rose, so approximately Northeast. Angle might have been less than 45 degrees. Approximately 2 seconds, very bright, followed by a very bright 'explosion'. Even before that, it was brighter than Venus. It did not appear to travel far, i.e., perhaps traveling mostly toward me. I cannot recall whether it appeared to be moving left or right from my perspective. The time is approximate, maybe off by 1 hour or more. The previous night, also ~ 11PM, I saw one that appeared to be moving slightly upward and to the right, and split into 2 before disappearing. It was not nearly as bright (but still maybe as bright Venus). It was in the Southeast. Also lasted ~2 seconds.
