Light up entire sky in every direction with multiple flashes like lightning and made me turn my head almost 180 degrees to see it and only saw it for last 1 second. I noted exactly where I was standing and which trees it was between so I could improve angle and altitude but the angle is within 5 degrees accuracy (checked against north star later but north star was behind trees so was tricky). I didn't check altitude very accurately at the time.
