About a week ago we had another flash about as bright (but no tail) that knocked out our power for a few seconds. I never found out what that was; it was NW over the ocean. I've seen many shooting stars, but never saw one that exploded like this or one that left a glowing tail. Quite spectacular!

My eyes were closed during the initial flash, but it was so bright I opened them 1-2 seconds later and could still see the white ball of light
