Remarks | My wife saw this event as well, as she was riding with me. We were stunned, and both immediately realized that this was not something related to air traffic around Dulles Airport; that we had just seen a fireball. From our angle it looked like it dropped down on the far side of the airport, but we know in reality it may have been 100 miles further west. My first thought was that it was an emergency flare, as it seemed to drop so slowly, but the terminal flare made it obvious what it was. |
