Remarks | I was in a moving car at the time of first sighting the fireball and initially thought it was a headlight reflection inside the car window. But with a cemetery to the opposite side, I realized that it was not a reflection. When I leaned forward in the front passenger seat, I saw that it was low on the horizon and not on the ground. It went out of my view just behind the edge of a hill but the terminal flash was still very visible. However, from inside the car I could not hear any sound. |

Terminal flash | |

Observation | Yes |
Remarks | If I had held a ruler out at arms length, the fireball would have covered about 5/8 of an inch. The terminal flash was approximately 20 times in width as was the length of the meteor fireball. It had almost an angular look to it such that I wondered, at the time, if it were a plane coming flaming down. Since it was already dark, I could not see if there were any trailing smoke or fragmentation. It seemed to come in like a fast burning plane. |
