Remarks | Witnessed the amazing Leonid Shower in autumn many years ago (looked it up once, think it was November), 1966 near Fort Smith, Arkansas. Approximately 4-5 AM. For years, never knew what the heck it was and everyone we told laughed and said we were crazy. Estimate 100s or more a minute and 1000s in all, at least 5-10 minute duration. We (my cousin Walter and I, walking in the woods hunting in the pre-dawn darkness), were so overwhelmed that we had vertigo and had to sit down, we actually almost fell down. Imagine a scene from Star Wars zooming through space, or driving in a Snowstorm with the bright headlights on ... there were THAT many "Shooting Stars" blasting at us from all corners of the sky. And, NO, we were not drinking or smoking Pot!! Ha ha. |
