Remarks At Sea 15 nautical miles off the Central Washington Coast. Latitude 47-04 N, Longitude 124-33W. At 0600 September 12, 2014. I reported this to the United States Coast Guard. I heard the Coast Guard responding from Tillamook Bay, Or and Cape Disappointment / Columbia River, WA to other vessels having spotted this. I reported to USCG station Gray's Harbor, WA. The fireball was parallel to Hz and appeared to follow a south to north path. It was visible long enough to, register the fact that this is unusual, and quickly walk to the galley on the next deck below and inform the crew, open the hatch, step out on deck and view its last few seconds and the resulting cloud. What a great experience. The other vessels reported it as a flare but the descriptions were not characteristic of a flare which quickly rises then slowly fall. I reported it as a meteor / phenomena. Thanks
