Remarks I was driving south on Interstate 5 North of Grimes CA when my husband and I observed what looked like a rapidly moving good sized burning object in the sky to our right. It seemed very, close to where we were and was low . As I was driving I had a moment of fear that if I continued driving at freeway speed I might actually collide with the object. The arch of its descent became quickly greater and when it disappeared our assumption was it did fall to earth. The object appeared large and the fire first appeared white with some green, then only white. As the fire died out the trail appeared to (best way I can describe it) sort of die out in bits behind it. We did not hear any sound related to it. My husband guessed it had been 20-30 miles away. I had felt it was closer but in retrospect he was probably correct. It did not cross in front of us but rather dropped while still to the south-west of us. My best guess is that this event last just about 5 seconds + or - a little.
