Remarks Brightness is hard to determine. The moon was not visible, and the sun had set quite awhile beforehand. It was vastly brighter than Vega, which I had been looking at. I managed to get my telescope sighted onto it, but could not get a good image due to the speed. I was using a Powerseeker 127EQ 1000mm Focal Length, 127mm aperature, with a 15mm eyepiece. It was large in the view, mostly circular, but again I could not get a perfect focus, though I did have about 5 seconds of time to get as close as possible. The color was not even, with a sort of fuzzy hourglass shaped patch in the middle that was slightly darker than the rest. Even with the zoom of the telescope, there was no train/trail of any kind that I could see. It did not appear to make it over the horizon, fading out before hand. However, it was also close in the sky to a very close street lamp. While it was comparably bright and very obvious to start with, by the time it got near its end point, it required blocking the light to see it, until it was finally gone. We never saw anything appear to break off, and there was no sparkling or twinkling. It was very even in brightness while nearby, and for about 15 seconds after. The last of the time, around another 15 seconds, it faded evenly until no longer visible. The sky was quite clear, though there was the rare cloud near the horizon. Several hundred stars were already visible, including the entirety of both Lyra and Ursa Minor, and many other constellations. The time is also approximate. Unfortunately I had just taken my phone in to charge it, and did not think to check the time until about 30 minutes later, when it was 10:27 PM Local time ( Mountain ). If there are further questions that I could potentially answer, feel free to email me.
