We were traveling SW on highway 42 from Plainview to Elgin. We never noticed an object. It was dark out and it lit up the whole sky. We witnessed 2 large flashes. The first one was really bright, then another one a few seconds later. The second was less bright and did not last as long.

I never witnessed the actual object. It lit up the sky almost like it was day light out. 1 bright flash for 3 - 5 seconds. Then another flash less bright, and less duration.
