Remarks I was traveling Eastbound on the 54 and getting ready to exit on Briarwood. Night was clear and had noticed two airliners East of Mt. Miguel on their approach to the airport. They were still a good ways out and appeared small in the sky. When I first saw the three pulses of bright white light I thought that maybe something had happened to one the airliners but quickly realized that they were still on their approach with no visible signs of anything being out of the ordinary. I did not see any steaks across the sky. Instead, the white pulses seemed to have originated from the ground. I thought that maybe the electrical station (?) that's located just off of the 125 had blown a transformer, so I continued on the 54 and took the 125 toll road South to investigate. After passing the bridge on the Southbound 125 I noticed that the lights were on in the area and the electrical station (?) was fine. Nothing else in the area seemed out of the ordinary. Again, the three bright white pulses of light that lit up the area seemed to have originated from the ground. I had no idea it was a meteor until the following morning when I heard about it on KPBS.ORG Thanks for this opportunity to report this event.
