This is very serious. The BBC news told the public to go out and watch what they called a meteor shower..I stood in the roadway outside our bunglow with my head tilted right back. I did see shooting stars high up in the sky to the north east which seemed very near and coming at an odd angle. After a while my neck got so sore I lowered my head for relief just in time to see a white ball of fire shoot over the roof of the house.. (apparently at 1,700mph) I started screaming. I wanted to run for cover but couldn't see how anywhere could be safe. The next one that went by was closer to the ground. It came from the east as well. It was black at the tip with red flames shooting backward which ended in a white fire.ball. Since this experience I have been completely traumatized. I am not easily frightened as I lived through the "troubles" in Northern Ireland and have been -caught in cross fire and bombs. This is different - you can't run and where would you hide. The following morning a gentleman from the Armagh observatory was interviewed on TV and said that the fireballs where more likely to be space debris. I don't care what they are or where they are from I just want someone to reassure me that there will not be "fire falling from the sky" in my lifetime.
