I was a scout in the military and we used flares before for night exercises. I don’t think it was a flare although it did look like one. The fireball disappeared behind the mountains to the southeast while I was driving on the highway. The moment I saw the fireball I noted date time and direction from my cars GPS. Here is an excerpt copied exactly from my notes that I took on my phone:

Remarks
The train followed the object but the object did not fall gracefully. It fell rather wonky. Similar to something that was not aerodynamic and meeting lots of resistance. The train followed in that pattern. Similar to if I dropped the letter “L” and added green fire to it
Terminal flash

Remarks
It was extremely large and bright green. It fluctuated in brightness temporarily
