Remarks | I'm not entirely sure of the exact direction. I know is it was north and a bit east. I was watching a lightning storm over the small visible angle of the Olympic Mountains I could see when the fireball appeared a bit to the right. If this helps, it was almost exactly over a celestial object I believe was the star system Capella (alpha Aurigae), perhaps 5-10 degrees above it. It didn't travel very far (maybe 4 degrees, I'm not good at estimating angular distances). It did end very distinctly though; the people I was observing with and I saw it disappear in a "shell" (akin to the atmospheric disturbance/refraction that is noticeable during some bomb detonations) that was maybe 2-3 times the diameter of the object. |
