Reports Report 1808d (Event 1808-2012)

Observer
Name April M
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I initially went outside since my three dogs were barking fiercely and wanted to chase something. Before I let them run and chase the sent or sound I looked to the north and saw a flash of light overhead like a firework going off above me, but bright enough that I first thought of lightning with no noise. I then saw the "fireball" move north and was surprised to have the fragmented train/trail be visible for so long, I have never seen anything so large and long lasting. Then the "boom" approximately 5 minutes later was very odd.

Delayed Sound
Observation Yes
Remarks It was about 5 minutes after I saw the fireball and I was still searching the sky for more activity when I heard a loud "boom" in the same direction as the trajectory of the fireball.
Persistent train
Observation Yes
Duration 20s
Length 15°
Remarks The train was bright and fragmented, looked almost like a flare, then it went from straight to a wiggly train then it dissipated but I could see the train for at least 20 seconds afterward. The largest falling body I have ever seen, and the sky is very open here since I live in the country. Then approximately 5 minutes afterward I heard a "boom" in the same direction I saw the fireball travel.
Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks What drew my attention overhead was a flash, like when fireworks go off overhead, then I saw the fireball which was brighter and larger than I have ever witnessed. The train was fragmented and went from a somewhat straight trajectory to a wavy/wiggly fragmented train or trail.
Fragmentation

Remarks What drew my attention overhead was a flash, like when fireworks go off overhead, then I saw the fireball which was brighter and larger than I have ever witnessed. The train was fragmented and went from a somewhat straight trajectory to a wavy/wiggly fragmented train or trail.
