Remarks I was in a dark part of our yard above and north of downtown Fairfax. A bright light came on that I first thought must be someones yard light. I saw my shadow under me going towards the north northeast. I looked up and saw a bright fireball high in the sky with tail that I first took for a large firework. It past directly overhead and high in the north northeast sky it broke apart into several pieces which traveled together and then began to diverge just as if faded. I walked down the the street (about 50 steps down) and walked around to in front of the next house on the street when I heard, and slightly felt, a boom that sounded like it came from the south east, up the Ross Valley. The sound was stretched out and there were several pulses, like distant thunder, but louder.
