The centre of the \"fireball\" was about the size of a marble held at arm\'s length and was a prominent light lime green color. This orb was evenly surrounded by yellow light of some thickness. The downward trajectory starting at 0 degrees at the top of the sky would be about 80 degrees (almost straight down in other words). It flamed out about 5 dgrees above my visible horizon - flat ground and I am 48 feet above ground level and 458 feet ASL. I heard a faint \"crack\" or \"bang\" at 5 degrees above the horizon. The whole arrival lasted 3 to 4 seconds and it seemed so close that I actually thought that someone was launching pyrotechnical fireworks about one half mile away over the threshold of our northwest main runway. It was quite memorable!

Remarks
I heard a faint \"bang\" in the distance and I would like to add that I am an air traffic controller and viewed this event from my control tower behind glass and I was lucky enough to see it start and completely end as my vision was focussed to the east at the precise time that the event started
