Remarks | I have seen shooting stars, etc. But never something so big, brilliant and ending in a flash of white light such as this. This area is very rural/country with little obtrusive/artificial light. So it was pretty impressive to have this white fireball catch my attention to the southern sky through my rear view mirror as I drove home from work. What a sight! |

Remarks | the fireball was bright enough to catch my attention in the review mirror. I was traveling due north and the fire ball was directly south. A brighter that white, large ball almost straight down (slightly eastward) to the horizon which is the village of Ovid NY approximately 5 miles south of my position. The fireball disappear behind the horizon and ended with a brilliant flash of white light. |
