Reports Report 1252ad (Event 1252-2012)

Observer
Name Terry G
Experience Level 1/5
Remarks Oddly enough last night on Sept 5th at around 11 pm. my husband and I were watching television at our home near Lake Belton when he looked up and saw something similar through a skylight window overhead. He described it as similar to a shooting star only larger. He also said that he would have simply dismissed it as possibly being a jet plane flying over had it not been for the speed with which it moved and the observation we both made earlier in the week.

Remarks As I was driving north on I-35 near Georgetown Texas when my husband and I both spotted a bright white object through the windshield. It seemed as if it came from nearly overhead and North-East of my position. It appeared as a large round blueish-white ball of light somewhat smaller than a high in the sky full moon. It got larger and became brighter white in color as it dropped toward the horizon almost directly to the North. The event lasted only a couple of seconds with the ball disappearing at the horizon as if it had hit the earth. The time was a few minutes after 9:00 PM Central Daylight Savings Time.
Terminal flash
Observation Unknown
Remarks The object got significantly brighter as it neared the horizon in a manner similar to the way a bottle rocket gets brighter before it burns out.
Fragmentation
Observation No
