Reports Report 1609a (Event 1609-2011)

Observer
Name C
Experience Level 1/5
Remarks The sky was dark, no visible moon, with some scattered clouds that were barely visible in the dark. Also it was very quiet at that time of night. I cannot see the horizon from where I live as it is hidden behind the surrounding hills. It\'s difficult to estimate brightness of the object as I have no experience in this. But if I could compare the size of the main head of the object with the full moon, I would estimate that the head of the object was 50-75% of the size of the full moon at its zenith. Quite an amazing sight, VERY different from meteors that I have seen in the past.

Observation Yes
Remarks It appeared to flare brighter for a very brief time, very shortly before disappearing. It happened so very quickly, it\'s difficult to be certain, but I think I saw some brighter flashes coming from the main head part of the object.
