Remarks | I have seen falling stars, but have never seen anything like this. It was a green ball and it was smoky looking in the distance. It seemed to be spinning and burning as it was falling from the sky at an angle. It had a tail of green hazy smoke behind it. Then it all disappeared, as if it had burned out. I was traveling southbound on Highway 127 and it was in the eastern sky, I'd say southeast, of where I was traveling. What struck me was how large and ball-shaped it was, and the fact that it was green. My 15 year old son and I looked up green meteors when I got home and we discovered that leonid meteors can be green, and the color is due to nickel burning as the meteor enters the atmosphere. It was strange and beautiful. Please keep me posted. |
