Remarks | The following may be more helpful than my guesses at height and direction: Midtown Manhattan is clearly visible from the top of a nearby hill (41.110486, -74.075791) and my first impression when I saw the meteor, at the bottom of the same hill (41.110910, -74.071859), was that it was headed straight toward Manhattan. I later realized that the fireball was heading slightly to much to the west to pass/hit Manhattan. |
