Reports Report 5113by (Event 5113-2017)

Observer
Name Frances G
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I have, over the years, been to star parties at McDonalds Observatory, and climbed to a rooftop telescope in Austin to watch the transit of Venus, but this was so close to us that it seems we could have almost been hit by remnants had we been just a bit farther down the path. I will ask the other family members to share what they saw.

Remarks was walking with my 14y/o granddaughter- she yelled 'look' and pointed - I saw a bright white object back over my right shoulder which rapidly widened out in shades of green/blue with flashes of red, then just darkness. It appeared to extinguish about a block or block and a half beyond the point where we were standing. Three other members of the family were walking a small distance behind us, and we called out to each other " did you see that?' and they came running to join us shouting 'Yes". Both they and the 14 y/o had seen it before I did and reported that it had a bright tail when they first saw it
